I also got a few more asset suggestions for all stages which will be added to there asset lists. With the lab decided as the final design I decided to put all of the assets I had drawn into UE4 as alpha mapped planes and block out the walls so give a general feel of the space i want to achieve (this is not the correct scale or final positioning):

I do like the look of the parallaxing look of the 2D and 3D components of the stage and hope it looks much more refined by the end of the project.

With the survey over it occurred to me that having the tally at the bottom of the sheet influenced peoples choices a bit as when one design had a lot of votes people were reluctant to vote against it in fear of losing or that there didn’t seem to be much point voting against it. In the future I would avoid this by keeping the tally in a book or a separate piece of paper so i’m the only one who knows the current scores.

I decided to go back to my block out and add roof tiles so the detail could be baked down later.

I then went back and added more detail to some of the house beams and added beams to areas I was not originally going to add detail because you may not have seen them.

I plan to check the model further and make any slight alterations before doing final renders. I will then take this forward and use it as a reference for making the modular segments.

I desired to do a quick block out with a rough scale, when its complete I hope it will give me a better idea of the scale I am aiming from and how to construct objects and buildings for when I move onto making everything modular. I started by importing the reference image of the scene and created a block that was the same height as the standard UDK avatar. I them started to create the sections of the house using the block as a scale reference.

With the basic shape in place I then continued to add more of the larger details.

With a basic house complete I then copied it and placed them around to mimic the scene. I also added a plane and a gray texture with a high shine to every. This made it look like it all belonged together.

I then started to work on smaller details.

Once I was happy with the level of detail I set up a sky light and checked the scene once again.

When I was happy with everything I produced renders of focal points.

Taking this forward I feel I need to check the scale but I am pleased with the look of the houses and thing this will help when I come to making the modular segments. Some of the pieces I produced may also be useful to use as modular pieces like the chimney, box, roof window and curved support beams.
